The 2025-26 NBA season is reaching its conclusion. The league is healthy and stable. Luka Doncic from Slovenia is the likely MVP. Expansion to 32 teams for the 2027-28 sesaon is very likely. Seattle and Las Vegas recently joined the NHL and are the clear favourites.

The English Premier League has shown that 20 is an ideal league size. Many sports leagues across Europe and Asia are similar in size. With a recession looming, the NBA could contract a few teams like the NHL did in the 1930s. Decreasing the number of franchises will concentate the revenue among fewer owners. Most would agree losing the Wizards, Pelicans, Clippers and Grizzles would not be a major loss.

Shown below are the 320 jerseys worn during the basketball season. The Lakers and Celtics have excelled on and off the court. Their unique jerseys have further enhanced their brand. It would be sacrilege for another team to wear gold, purple or green. I suggest the NBA follow the NHL by wearing white during road games. The NHL made the switch in 2003 to boost mechandise sales.
